WITNESS Celebrates World Day for Audiovisual Heritage in Switzerland
Grace Lile, our Director of Operations and Archives, participates on a panel at the two-day conference in Bern entitled Memory, Truth and Justice in Chechnya: The role of human rights archives in combating impunity.
The conference will highlight a new project, the Chechen Archive, to discuss role of archives in combating impunity generally and in terms of Chechnya specifically. It also marks the 6th World Day for Audiovisual Heritage.
Grace will discuss "Producing and maintaining audiovisual documentation of human rights violations – best practices and lessons learned" with fellow panelists Ruslan Bazgiev, Collaborator Campaigns and Projects, Society for threatened Peoples, Switzerland; Csaba Szilagyi, Head Human Rights Program, Open Society Archives, Hungary; and Alyona Kozlova, Archivist, Memorial, Russia. Memorial is a former partner organization of WITNESS' and is one of the most respected human rights organizations in the world.
