Rodney King, whose beating caught on video was a catalyst for WITNESS' founding, passes away

It was the beating of Mr. King, caught on tape by bystander George Holliday, in 1991 that spurred the idea of WITNESS: that anyone, anywhere with a camera could be a witness to human rights abuse.

Although Mr. King was not directly involved with our organization we do feel that he is a part of our story and we wish his family and friends peace and comfort in this difficult time.
