VAW Graduate's Video Accepted to Film Festival

Congratulations to Video Advocacy Workshop alumna Jola Diones-Mamangun and Kodao Productions on the selection of their film The Real Gold (Agpayso A Balitok) to the 7th annual IAWRT Asian Women's Film Festival.

The Real Gold (Agpayso A Balitok) details the resistance by indigenous communities to the forced evictions caused by mining projects in the Philippines. The video has been used to mobilize the local communities affected by current and proposed mining projects. It was released by Kodao Productions in late 2009 as part of Jola's Video Advocacy Workshop (VAW) training.

The VAW was organized and conducted by the International Accountability Project, WITNESS and other groups in September 2008. Read more about the VAW here.
