New York / Berlin, December 2012 — artnet Auctions is proud to support WITNESS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of human rights violations. The prints in this sale were curated by artist Izhar Patkin, a former WITNESS board member. Each image in the print portfolio represents a collaboration between two artists born in different countries. The series includes internationally known visual artists Shirin Neshat, Sebastião Salgado, William Wegman, and Izhar Patkin, among others.
"As an organization that believes in the power of visual media, we are grateful to these amazing visual artists who are making a statement in support of human rights through their participation in this series," said Yvette Alberdingk Thijm, the executive director of WITNESS. She continued, "We're thrilled to partner with artnet. This special auction of the prints and portfolio coincides with International Human Rights Day, December 10th, when the world stands together to honor victims and survivors of human rights abuse and pledges to prevent future abuses."
The Sale to Benefit WITNESS is live on artnet Auctions through December 26, 2012 at http://www.artnet.com/auctions/witness-fine-art-print-edition-sale.
