ARTIST: Jaar and Singh BIOS: Alfredo Jaar was born in Chile. His installations combine elements of photography, architecture, and theater, often featuring graphic documentary imagery in the form of back-lit transparencies and exploring the complex relationships between developed nations and the so-called Third World. Alfredo Jaar's work has been shown extensively around the world. He lives in New York. Dayanita Singh was born in India. Exhibited widely both in India and abroad, she is best known for her portraits of India's urban middle- and upper-class. Recent solo exhibitions have appeared at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston, Les Rencontres d'Arles Festival, Arles, Banhof Museum for Contemporary Art, Berlin, and the Frith St. Gallery, London.
