ARTISTS: Sebastião Salgado and William Wegman

BIOS: Sebastião Salgado was born in Brazil. Originally trained as an economist, he has been awarded virtually every major photographic prize for his work. Salgado is a UNICEF Special Representative, a recipient of the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography, and twice been named Photographer of the Year by the International Center of Photography. Since the 1970s, he has worked to create monumental photo books and exhibitions focused on the developing world. He lives in Paris and Brazil.

William Wegman was born in the United States. His photographs, videos, paintings, and drawings have been exhibited internationally. A recent retrospective of his work traveled to museums throughout Europe and the United States, including stops at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Since the 1970's Wegman's 20x24 Polaroid images of his weimaraner dogs have gained a worldwide following. He lives in New York and Maine.
