The event was hosted by Peter Gabriel and Angélique Kidjo, and honored the work of Silvano Lima Rezende & Comissão Pastoral da Terra, as well as Chris Anderson & TED.  It was a truly celebratory evening with incredible performances by Lenine, Vampire Weekend and Maracatu New York.

With the help of Host Committee Co-Chairs Amy Robbins and Steve Luczo, the event raised $700,000 to support WITNESS' work using video and online technologies to open the eyes of the world to human rights abuses.

This year's event highlighted our partnership with Comissão Pastoral da Terra and our work to eradicate slave labor in rural Brazil, where at least 25,000 workers are lured into the Amazon with false promises of paid work, only to be enslaved.

 WITNESS and the Brazilian Coalition against Slavery have launched a three-month call for 1 million signatures that will be presented to the Brazilian Congress to help finally make slavery a punishable crime.
