Who Can Intern at WITNESS?

WITNESS accepts interns from high school through graduate levels of education. Interns are integral to our work and benefit from a unique, hands-on opportunity to gain experience in the fields of human rights, video advocacy, and nonprofit administration. Interns participate in an array of activities including logging footage from partners, translation, research, producing online videos, event planning, online outreach and assisting with administrative tasks. The WITNESS office is based in Brooklyn, New York. We are able to accept interns on a rolling basis and always have the need for your assistance. We are happy to receive interns from abroad, however at this time WITNESS does not facilitate visa applications. We encourage you to join our mailing list and stay up to date with our activities.

Receiving University Credit

WITNESS internships are unpaid. However, we are happy to assist candidates with applications for outside scholarships and arrange for academic credit.

How to Apply

If you are interested in an internship with WITNESS, please send the following to internship@witness.org  (your application will not be considered complete if we do not receive all items requested):

  • your resume
  • a cover letter with your dates and approximate hours of availability

Please make sure to highlight any relevant background in human rights, media, and video/film, as well as specific skills such as language (specify level of fluency) and computer/technical skills.

Please note: We will acknowledge receipt of your materials. However, due the volume of inquiries, we may not be able to respond to special requests for information in the timeframe that you desire. Please submit your materials as early as possible to ensure we have ample time to review them and respond.
