Quiet Revolutions in Storytelling, a panel discussion at the 2009 PEN World Voices Festival. This event is FREE and open to the public.
When: Thurs April 30th, 6-7:30pm
Where: Instituto Cervantes New York, 211–215 East 49th Street
(Directions: closest subway is 6 train at 51st St. or any train at 42nd St./Grand Central terminal)
Participants: Wafaa Bilal, Josep-Maria Terricabras and Emmanuele Guibert. Moderated by Sameer Padania, WITNESS' Hub manager.
(Panelists Philip Gourevitch and Kathrin Röggla unfortunately are not able to participate.)
About the panel: From the photographs taken at Abu Ghraib, to police torture videos from Cambodia and Egypt, to blogs and Facebook groups for hunger-striking activists in Saudi
Arabia, technology is affecting both who is reporting and what gets reported. What
will be the cumulative effect of this quiet revolution? We’ll hear stories from Iraq,
Europe, the United States, and intersections of all three.
Cosponsored by Instituto Cervantes and the Consulate General of Spain
WITNESS is pleased to collaborate with PEN for a second year in a row. For a complete line up of the amazing 7 day festival visit: PEN American Center's website.
