Every year, the trafficking of human beings for the sex trade puts hundreds of thousands of women throughout the world at risk of losing their personal freedom, suffering physical and emotional harm, working in degrading and sometimes life-threatening situations, and being cheated of their earnings. Most of those women traveled abroad to find better jobs or to see the world, never imagining that they would enter such a hellish world of crime and servitude.
