WITNESS is pleased to announce Leonardo Custódio and Pam Mudhray have joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Custódio and Ms. Mudhray bring decades of lived experiences from work in anti-racism initiatives, social justice, activist research and education, community organizing, and organizational development to WITNESS’ work.

Today, WITNESS is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web (FFDW), a new grantmaking organization whose mission is to preserve humanity’s most important information.
WITNESS will host a West African cross-disciplinary convening on mis/disinformation in Abuja, Nigeria from Sept. 14-15, 2021. It will explore and prioritize pragmatic solutions for the defense against mis/disinformation particularly as it affects grassroots communities in Africa.
Through our work with activists who have experienced internet shutdowns, we have learned some useful tips and approaches to capturing and preserving video documentation during internet shutdowns that we are sharing in this newly launched campaign: #EyesOnShutdowns.
