Leila Lobos, LAC Program Coordinator
Leila Lobos is a journalist and project coordinator with more than a decade of experience in community communication, popular education, and audiovisual production focused on human rights. As Program Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean at WITNESS, she helps advance regional programs that strengthen social movements, communities, and grassroots media in using video as a tool for advocacy, memory, and legal evidence.
She has worked with various community media and social organizations across Latin America — mainly in Argentina — documenting human rights violations and facilitating trainings on safety and risk management for journalists. As a reporter, she has covered social conflicts, elections, and topics related to justice and human rights for both local and regional media. She specializes in risk analysis and the creation of safety protocols for covering protests in contexts of state violence, promoting ethical and secure practices in audiovisual production.
In addition, she has developed and facilitated communication workshops for human rights defenders, using participatory and community-based approaches. Her work connects communication, justice, and collective memory as tools for social transformation.
