Join WITNESS in Geneva for the AI for Good Summit
Next week, from July 8th to 11th, WITNESS will be joining a group of experts and policymakers at the AI for Good Summit in Geneva, Switzerland. Organized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in partnership with the Swiss Government and other 40 United Nations agencies stakeholders in the conversation, the summit is one of the main platforms – at the United Nations level – for dialogue and collaboration on Artificial Intelligence and its intersection with topics such as climate change, digital inclusion, as well as advancing the sustainable development goals.
As the Global Digital Compact and the 20 year review of the commitments from the World Summit on the Information Society set out the state for increased calls on digital cooperation and improved frameworks for Artificial Intelligence Governance, the summit arrives at an important inflection point and has the capacity to issue important calls to action on harnessing AI’s potential, addressing the harms stack and setting out relevant collective action for the coming 20 years.
WITNESS’ Technology Threats and Opportunities Team will be engaged in a series of sessions during the event, to which we would like to call your attention below. All of these panels will highlight the WITNESS’ work on addressing misinformation, technical standards, and pushing further on the implementation of detection tools that help address the current gaps.
- Tuesday, July 8th, 15:45 – 16:35 CEST: Deepfakes for good or bad?, Center stage panel.
- Thursday, July 10th, 14:00 – 15:30 CEST: The AI detection debate: The path to truly innovative and effective AI detection solutions.
Event co-hosted with the Swiss Government for the launch of the TRIED Benchmark.
- Thursday, July 10th, 09:00 – 12:15 CEST: From policy to practice: Building trust in multimedia authenticity through international standards, Capacity building in multimedia authenticity and Standards.
- Friday, July 11th, 11h00 to 12h15 CEST: Fighting Misinformation through fact checking and deepfakes, part of the AI and multimedia authenticity Standards Day.
Added to that, on the sidelines of the AI for Good Summit, the World Summit on the Information Society High-Level Event will also be taking place at the Palexpo, with representatives of all stakeholder groups in order to assess global efforts on tech and society since the formation of the WSIS Forum. Participants will consider the future of WSIS and digital cooperation, as well as reflect on how societies are embracing new technologies.
We are looking forward to meeting up with partner organizations as well as forming new connections during the AI for Good Summit. So, in case you’re interested in our work on Deepfakes detection such as the yet to be launched TRIED: Truly Innovative and Effective AI Detection Benchmark, developed by WITNESS or our work on standards and the recently issued “Embedding Human Rights in Technical Standards: Insights from WITNESS’s Participation in the C2PA” paper, reach out to us so we can meet!
