Huey Shin Choo, Program Coordinator - Asia-Pacific Huey Shin is the Program Coordinator for WITNESS’ Asia-Pacific regional team based in Malaysia. In her role, she supports activists and grassroots communities in using video and technology to advocate for human rights safely and strategically. Before joining WITNESS, she was the Program Manager for Freedom Film Network. There, she worked on their five-year project, Social Films for Social Change, where she managed the annual international film festival FreedomFilmFest, started the first social film archive in Malaysia, Arkib Filem Rakyat, and coordinated their civil society support in using social films.

18 Sep William Lukas

William Lukas, Global Programs Coordinator William is the Global Programs Coordinator at WITNESS. Prior to joining WITNESS, William served as the director of communications for a pro bono abolitionist law firm. He has also worked with public schools, neighborhood centers, and re-entry programs as a teaching artist, case worker, and project manager. William regularly collaborates on community care projects that support survivors of state violence and center queer and trans futurity. He is also a visual artist and writer and he exhibits work nationally and publishes through indie literary presses. William holds a B.A. in Sociology.

18 Sep Georgia Edwards

Georgia Edwards, Program Coordinator, Video as Evidence Georgia works in the Video as Evidence team at WITNESS to support the use of audiovisual documentation in community-led justice and accountability processes. Previously, she worked at Airwars, building and using their public audiovisual archive for advocacy and impact projects, alongside producing their open-source research into allegations of civilian harm in multiple conflicts across the world. Georgia is also interested in developing independent community media and radio, as a founder of impact production agency, ooto. She is currently a non-executive Director of investigative media co-op the Bristol Cable, and previously took part in their Media Lab trainee programme for investigative journalists.  Georgia has a BSc in Politics and International Relations, and a LLM in Human Rights Law from Birbeck, the University of London, where she focused on critical legal studies, with a specific interest in emerging technologies and their uses in disrupting hegemonic and official state narratives.

22 Jun Jéssica Ribeiro

Jéssica Ribeiro, Senior Content Coordinator, Communications and Engagement Jéssica is the Senior Content Coordinator of the Communications and Engagement team at WITNESS, where she helps shape communication strategies, develops content for the organization’s various channels, and supports outreach across the regions where WITNESS operates. She previously worked with WITNESS Brazil, contributing to programmatic efforts such as in-person and online trainings, strategic planning with partners, and regional communications. Before joining WITNESS, Jéssica worked in communications for various nonprofit organizations. For five years, she worked at the Brazilian consumer rights organization Idec, where she developed communication and advocacy campaigns focused on the right to healthy food. She has also worked as a freelance journalist for Brazilian media outlets such as Editora Abril and O Joio e o Trigo. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), and completed a study abroad program in Film and Video at the University of East London (UEL) in the United Kingdom. She also holds a post-graduate specialization in Media, Information, and Culture from the Latin American Center for Communication Studies at the University of São Paulo (USP), and a Master’s degree in Communication also from USP.

Kaz Patwa, Director, People and Systems  Kaz leads WITNESS’ people, IT and global operations functions, providing the technology and support that underpins the organization’s globally distributed team.  He is passionate about technology’s increasing impact on organizational effectiveness and its role in supporting social change and empowering disadvantaged and vulnerable communities around the world.  Kaz has over 20 years of experience spread across a number of global NGOs and technology companies, including operationally spearheading Change.org’s global expansion through Asia, Latin America, and Europe.
